AEMB is the Bioengineering Honor Society. We focus on the academic and professional development of our members, especially those who wish to pursue further education such as graduate school and medical school. Members who are interested in industry or other fields are still encouraged to apply as we have many current members and alumni who are interested in those fields or are currently working in those fields.
Why should you join AEMB and what does AEMB do?
To better connect with your Bioengineering peers and the BioE Department as well as serve as role models to underclassmen BioE majors. As part of AEMB, you will have the opportunity to tutor for classes such as BIOE120 and host targeted study sessions for BIOE232, BIOE371, and others. We will also have GBM speakers to give insight about their experiences in the field of bioengineering such as graduate students and department faculty.
Mission Statement
The University of Maryland’s Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB) chapter was founded four years ago and built upon the principles of highlighting academic excellence of bioengineering students and acting as a bridge between the department’s administration, faculty and student body at large. In addition to academic enrichment, AEMB is also focused on encouraging the professional development of all members and encouraging the mentorship of individuals interested in pursuing careers in the biomedical engineering and sciences. For the following year, our goal is to be able to continue to build on these principles and continue to provide the academic support and mentorship to members of the bioengineering department. We plan to build upon many of the programs that we established within the past four years related these three principles.
